This year, as Swarovski celebrates its 125th anniversary, staff will mark International Women’s Day by taking part in ‘The Future is Equal’ initiative.

Since 2015,Swarovski has marked International Women’s Day by inviting colleagues around the world to pledge their support for equality. In 2018, it launched ‘The Future is Equal’, a global campaign to inspire action and promote advocacy. Each year, Swarovski encourages staff to participate in #TheFutureIsEqual by sharing a photo on social media. In 2019, almost 4,000 Swarovski employees from50 global locations showed their solidarity across the company’s digital platforms.

Since the United Nations started celebrating International Women’s Day in 1975, people from all over the world have joined together on March 8 to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while also advocating for new levels of gender equality in every arena.

Promoting gender equality is a key priority for Swarovski, and the company’s efforts also sit within its commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The brand’s workforce is predominantly female, which places women at the very heart of the business, and the company strives to empower them at every level, from those who make Swarovski crystals shine to those who sparkle wearing them. This also extends to Swarovski’s philanthropic efforts, including the Swarovski Waterschool and the Swarovski Foundation which supports organizations that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Since its inception in 2013, the Swarovski Foundation has supported 848 female survivors of war in Nigeria to rebuild their lives through the Women for Women International’s empowerment program, which educates women about their rights and teaches them critical life and business skills. For the past two years, the Swarovski Foundation focused its support on mothers2mothers’ efforts in Kenya and partnered with Street Business School to provide highly specialized entrepreneurial training for women living in deep poverty.
